Do It For Drew...

Drew Hughes was a bright, beloved 13-year-old whose compassion and spirit left a profound imprint on everyone around him. Known for his mischievous smile, sense of humor, and boundless empathy, he uplifted friends, helped classmates facing bullying, and showed kindness even toward neighborhood elders—all without seeking anything in return. Though his time with us was heartbreakingly brief, the echo of his light continues to inspire countless people, reminding us of the irreplaceable value a single life can bring.

Following Drew’s tragic death due to medical error, his parents—David and Kimberly Hughes—channeled their grief into action. They founded the Do It For Drew Foundation to bring much-needed awareness and education about preventable medical mistakes, particularly in rural communities like their own. Through sharing Drew’s story, offering resources, traveling nationwide to engage emergency care professionals, and partnering with programs worldwide, the foundation continues to transform tragedy into the hope of safer care—keeping Drew’s legacy alive by preventing others from suffering similar loss.

Our Vision Behind 'Capnography Capstone'

At Capnography Capstone, we stand alongside the Hughes family in both grief and purpose. Our hearts break over stories like Drew’s—and it’s exactly those stories that fuel our unwavering commitment to elevating care through meaningful education. Our course is built to equip medical professionals with critical insights and capnography knowledge that can profoundly influence decision-making, helping prevent unnecessary deaths.

We believe that when clinicians are better trained and more aware, they become powerful agents for change—turning painful stories into catalysts for safer outcomes. We’re dedicated to honoring Drew’s memory by fostering a more informed, compassionate medical community—because no effort is too small when it has the power to save a life.
